The Museum of the Princes' Islands (Adalar Müzesi) is a surprisingly modern, award-winning museum devoted entirely to island life — a genuinely worthwhile stop, and a good rainy-day or midday option on Büyükada.

Opened in 2010 in a converted former hangar, the museum tells the archipelago's whole story through interactive, multimedia exhibits — themes like "from detention colony to resort," island architecture, migration and demographics, transport (the phaetons and boats), rowing and water sports, and food culture — plus geology, flora and birds. Behind it sits a research archive of some 20,000 documents and 6,000 photographs. A star exhibit is a 400-million-year-old Dunkleosteus fish fossil. Panels and videos are in Turkish and English.
