A Perfect One-Day Princes' Islands Itinerary
The ferry to catch, what to see on Büyükada, where to eat, and how to squeeze in a second island — a full day, done right.
You can see the best of the Princes' Islands in a single day — if you start early and plan the ferries. Here's a tried-and-tested itinerary from Istanbul.
Morning: cross early
Catch one of the first ferries (around 07:30–08:30) from Kabataş, Eminönü or Bostancı. You'll beat the day-trippers and land on Büyükada while it's still calm. Ferry guide →
On Büyükada: mansions & the hilltop
From the pier, wander the mansion streets, then make the steep climb to Aya Yorgi for the view and the wish-ribbons. Down again, rent a bike or take the electric shuttle along the coast.
Lunch
Eat seafood by the harbour or grab a simpler café lunch. Then cool off at a beach or visit the island museum.
Afternoon: a second island (optional)
If you started early, hop to Heybeliada for a greener, quieter contrast before heading back.
Head back before the crush
Take a mid-to-late-afternoon ferry — the last boats, especially on summer weekends, are packed. Prefer it all arranged? See guided day trips →
