Two squares anchor life on Büyükada: Saat Meydanı by the harbour and Luna Park square just inland — the places you'll pass through, meet at, and set off from.
Saat Meydanı (Clock Square)
Step off the ferry and you're moments from Saat Meydanı, named for its clock tower (from the 1920s) in front of the old municipality building. It's the island's main meeting point, ringed by cafés, ice-cream shops and the entrance to the bazaar streets.
Luna Park square
A little further in, Luna Park square (Lunapark Meydanı) is the island's transport hub — where the electric buses and taxis gather (in the days of the phaetons, this is where they queued). It's also the starting point for the climb up to Aya Yorgi, and has a playground that makes it a handy family stop.
